Slavery post

I think that the situation of many African Americans today has just as much to do socioeconomics as race today. Discrimination and prejudice are still so obvious in our country, especially in some regions, and it is clear that African Americans are still treated differently than any other race in this country. I believe this is firmly tied to the socioeconomic trends that affect many African Americans. It’s interesting to see that although many races are could be considered in the same socioeconomic group as many African Americans, the two races are still treated very differently. In truth, I really don’t understand racism at all, to dislike someone simply for the color of their skin? It seems like such a foreign and incomprehensible concept to me. But that’s the only difference between African Americans and so many others. The have the same living conditions, they make the same wages, and yet the white family will always be treated better in some communities. In this way I agree with Geena, African Americans are still subject to racism in so many parts of this country, they should be given more opportunities to resources that so many of us take for granted. Until we can learn to eliminate racism in our society completely, lose who are hurt by it should be given benefits in other ways.
